Testimonials from Schools
Sun Safe Schools is proving a valuable resource to schools across the UK and beyond. In addition to the
hundreds of thousands of children learning through the scheme, we have over 90 schools registered from all
over the world to gain their accreditation and utilise the extensive resources on offer. We request
feedback throughout the accreditation process from all our schools to ensure we are delivering the best
possible service. Please scroll through the great feedback received from just a few of our Sun Safe Schools.
Cavendish Close Infant and Nursery School, Derby
“Our experience with the scheme has been overwhelmingly positive. The children have learnt so much and can talk
with confidence about keeping safe in the sun. Every class has a sun safety display. Our sun safety school
target is displayed all around school. The scheme has had a significant impact on our school.
We are better for it. We plan to have a sun safety fortnight every year in school. Through a sponsored
activity, we have raised almost £2000 for the Colin Bloomfield Appeal. This is a significant achievement for us.
Thank you for the opportunity and the fabulous resources.”
Stanton Road Primary School, Wirral
“Thank you very much for a great scheme it has been very easy to complete the steps and a very straight
forward process, I have recommended other schools to take part when we had our general meeting a while back,
so I hope they have signed up too! Our children have really enjoyed learning how to become
sun safe superstars and we are happy to continue to do this each year, many thanks ”
St Roberts Catholic Primary School, Harrogate
“Fantastic idea, we have found the processes and tools really helpful. I have been able to provide
structured information to the children, who have all responded really well. In addition to what they
have learnt, they are keen to keep the message going with a permanent display of artwork
and a section on the school website. Arrangements are being made for presentation of certificate
at school and press involvement to encourage other schools.”
English Martyrs’ Catholic Voluntary Academy, Nottingham

We are looking forward to continuing our journey with this and develop our school further.
The process has been extremely easy to work with and it has been highly informative along the route.

St Michael’s CE Primary School, Ascot
“We have thoroughly enjoyed working for our Sun Safe School Award.
The children are very enthusiastic about the initiative and we have been very well supported by parents.
The hats that we have bought have now been added to our compulsory uniform list for our new intake.
The very hot weather we are enjoying has been an excellent tester for being sun safe.
We found the process clear, well organised and easy to access.”
St. Theresa’s Catholic Primary School, London
“Working towards gaining our Sun Safe School Status has really helped the
school look at the procedures we needed to put in place to improve sun safety at school.
We have implemented many new concepts such as new sun hats and sunscreen kept in school and
since embarking on this project we have now installed a sun shelter in the playground.
The whole school community is much more aware. Thank you.”
Alvaston Infant and Nursery School, Derby

The children have thoroughly enjoyed participating in a range of activities, which promote sun safety.
Our school has purchased sun hats for every child in our school. We have received ‘Sun Safe Schools’

“We have had an excellent response from parents to the sun safe initiative.
It was timed perfectly for the start of the fine weather and the children are
embracing the need to wear their sun hats, sunglasses and sun screen.
Classes are still running sessions and we have a wonderful display in school
to remind everyone of the sun safe message as we move through the summer.”
