Our Children Need You!

It is Your Duty of Care!

Children spend almost half their childhood at school, with approximately 8 hours per week spent outdoors. During the hotter months of the year children are exposed to UV radiation from the sun, the majority of which is when UV penetration is at its strongest. Without adequate protection, a childs delicate skin can burn within minutes, causing irreparable damage. This can significantly increase their risk of developing skin cancer in later life.

Implementing a Sun Safe policy will ensure that your school is adequately equipped to protect the children in your care from over-exposure to UV. This illustrates to parents and other interested parties, that you are prepared to go that extra mile to ensure the health and wellbeing of your pupils.

By becoming a Sun Safe School, you can help to reverse the soaring rates of skin cancer in this country.

The Sun Safe School’s scheme is simple and effective to implement, with bespoke learning tools that are designed to engage primary aged children. It features fun ways to learn about sun safety, which will impact their lives and those of generations to come.

Pre-schools and nurseries can gain their Sun Safe Status via our sister scheme at: www.sunsafenurseries.co.uk
